Situated approximately 6 hours from Cape Town, South Africa, you’ll find Oudtshoorn. Infamous for it’s flightless birds – ostriches – and for being the spring capital of South Africa, this will be our first stay on our tour. As part of the Klein Karoo, this town holds many treasure for the upcoming days of exploring. On the way to our destination you will be treated with a Robertson wine tasting at one of South Africa’s leading wineries. The perfect start to our picturesque journey through the countryside along Route 62.
Early morning we rise to the occasion and head to our first historical, adventurous outing – the Cango Caves! Here you will be able to take part in the walking tour as well as the adventure seeker’s alternative, which involves smaller crawl spaces and leads deep into the cave system.
Thereafter, you will have the additional option of having a close encounter with a cheetah or crocodile as their respective conservations centres.
On route we will pass through Plettenberg Bay, home to surfers, breathtaking long walks along the beaches and whale watching! Spot the whales, dolphins and seal playing in the water or snap that insta worthy whale watching moment during the Spring months.
Off we go to the city on the Indian Ocean coastline – Knysna. This will be the centre point for our trip and here you will experience a scenic view of the Knysna Heads as well as have a shopping pitstop at the Waterfront. Now, will be your chance to request an additional stop at the Elephant Park to see the great giants of the African plain.
We depart from Knysna towards Mossel Bay, a sea-side city first discovered by the legendary Bartolomeu Dias on this travels around the world. While here, you will embark on a true African style Safari in an open vehicle, specially designed to view wildlife in their natural habitat. Once you’ve had your chance to spot the Big 5 of Africa, we head back to Cape Town.
